On this week’s NYWIFT Talks, we’re headed to the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival, highlighting filmmakers including our very own NYWIFT Members at this year’s festival. We are covering some short films in the festival including Hoop Dreams, and more. In conversation with Director Kasey Elise Walker, Fredgy Noël and more to be announced. “The Tribeca Film Festival, founded in 2002 by Robert DeNiro, Jane Rosenthal, and Craig Hatkoff in the wake of 9/11, has been a launching pad for the latest rising indie talent for two decades.
This year, 61% of their lineup is helmed by female, BIPOC, and/or LGBTQ+ directors. We are excited to see one of the top film festivals in the country fully embracing the need to uplift marginalized voices in an era when they are increasingly under attack.
There are a total of 20 LGBTQ+ themed features and shorts at this year’s festival. They are:

It's a wry commentary on the dynamics of sexual politics wrapped up in a satisfyingly funny fairy tale, and it lands its punches with enough subtlety that most men will fail to notice that they're being ridiculed. And even if they do realise it, they'll probably just roll over and wait to have their tummy tickled.”
